After embarking on a sold-out tour to the United States in 2010, showcasing at the 2011 International Performing Arts for Youth conference in Tampa, FL, and performing a sold-out run at home in Toronto, Romeo & Juliet is returning to Ottawa. Wandering players transform their unadorned Elizabethan surroundings into a playing space with a chalk circle and the audience’s imagination. This stunning production captures the youthful passion, beauty, and ultimate tragedy of Shakespeare’s timeless story.

Back in Shakespeare’s day, audiences were often rowdy, boisterous, and would cat-call during performances. Today’s high school audiences aren’t all that different. And you know what? It’s awesome.

Macbeth has finally opened, and what an amazing opening it was! In this line of work, we are so lucky to perform to enthusiastic young audiences whose cheers and applause makes the show feel more like a rock concert than theatre. It also helps that the fight scene between Macbeth and Macduff is The Coolest Thing Ever.

Here’s to looking forward to two more weeks of sold-out performances!
